About Lisa Powell

My philosophy in working with clients is to help them find the good in their lives and figure out what they are doing right so they can do more of that. Sometimes life is difficult and coming through difficult times is not easy. However, with help, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow. I want to help you in ways that are convenient for you. I respond to emails and text messages within 24 hours.

I have been counseling for 14 years, first at an Advocacy Center, then in private practice. In Texas, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT-S) and a Professional Counselor (LPC-S). I obtained a PhD in Marriage and Family therapy. I have been married over 25 years and have two adult children.

I enjoy working with couples and families, helping them to communicate better, thereby reducing conflict. So often our conflicts are because of miscommunication. We fall into old habits that do not help our situation. Conflict resolution and good communication can help a families find the right balance. Even if only one person in the family or couple is ready to work through therapy, positive change can occur. Marriages can be saved and couples can be brought back from the edge of divorce. Even after an affair, there is hope for a good relationship. If you have lost hope in your relationship, I can help you rediscover that hope while you learn how to better communicate with your partner.
